Fox News and The Christian Right

I've been accused of being "Anti-freedom thinking" and a "Christian Hater" by some members of the Christian Right. This, due to my support of Gay rights. Correction: I don't only support Gay rights, but the rights of all Citizens, which are protected under the Constitution. Here is my response: Amazing the gaul of a Christian to accuse anyone of "Anti-Freedom" thinking. That's like Dick Cheney accusing someone of "War Profiteering". How absurd! If standing up for the oppressed minority makes me "anti-freedom thinking", well then GUILTY as CHARGED! The point is, that I don't hate. I do blame the "Right Wing Christian Evangelicals, for supporting (and continuing to support) the Neoconservatives and their agenda. Karl Rove (Godfather of the Neoconservative plan to destroy our Republic) "acquired" a copy of the "Gideon's Bible" from a motel 6, showed it to George Bush, and with a gleam in his eye and a grin, and said "George, I got a great idea"! The Christian Right took it Hook, Line, and Sinker.

Do these "pretenders" really represent true conservatism? Does Christianity stand for torture, murder, perjury, violation of our Constitution, as well as State and Federal statues and International Treaties, under any circumstance? Fascism wrapped in a flag, topped off with a bible and a few cogent passages of Scripture is all it takes to lead the "righteous" astray? And they are still attempting to justify Bush and his criminal co-conspirators (and re-write history).

Fox "News" is on an unprecedented Neocon propaganda blitz, masquerading this onslaught as "conservative" values issues, which aren't real issues at all. Their current, number one rant, is to attempt to scare the hell out of Fox's mindless minions, over the closing of the Guantanamo Bay “detention” (reminds me of the Communist play on words of “Re-education Camp”) camp.

We have become the Soviet Union. State sponsored torture, Nation building (Imperialism), spying on it's own citizens, suspension of Habeas Corpus, loss of our I, IV, V, VI, VIII, Amendment Rights (by legislation), and of course, the total disregard for the IX and X Amendments, all heralded by Fox as needed for our “protection”, and enthusiastically supported by the Christian Right. Let's not forget Socialism through Nationalization of our Banking and Automobile industries, and soon, coming to a State near you: Socialized Medicine! When did words such as “Homeland” and Czar, become a daily part of the American Lexicon of the English language? Fox has actively supported ALL (with the exception of Socialized Medicine) of these assaults on our Liberties, continually marginalizes any opposition (Ron Paul is a prime example), and concentrates on emotional (non)issues such as school prayer. School prayer? It's been forty years since we've had prayer in school, and Fox is still beating the drum about it!

Fox News, the propaganda machine for Republicanism (almost interchangeable with Neoconservatism as opposed to true Conservatism), the same Fox News that is the last bastion of defense for “traditional Family Values”. You know, the “network” of the: shortest hemlines (I'll bet I'm almost as familiar with Gretchen Carlson's thighs as her husband is), most cleavage, most prominent boobs (breasts, not Steve Doocy), blondest hair, whitest teeth, and (didn't forget ya' Steve Doocy), pound for pound, the outright stupidest human beings on the face of the planet (in the guise of “Reporters”), who report no actual news at all, but rather create the “news” to further the Neocon agenda. THAT Fox News! It's almost as if Fox marvels at how gullible the Christian Right actually is, laughing all the way to the bank (that they own).

The faithful fish, who are swimming about the big political pond, starving for answers, biting at any morsel that might allow them to deflect their responsibility for the last eight years, are now circling in a feeding frenzy around Neocon, big government, big spender, former Arkansas Governor/Baptist minister, Mike Huckabee. But wait!!!!! He's a “Christian”!!!! Fox "News" has been actively chumming the water, and not surprisingly, Mike now, has his own weekly show on Fox. Why do I spend so much time talking about Fox? Because Fox News and the “Christian” Right are inextricably intertwined. When Evangelical Christians need an opinion, Fox News will provide one. Where Fox goes, the “Christian” Right blindly and naively follows.

I don't excuse away my own complicity in our current state of affairs, but I do assign the largest amount of blame for "Generalissimo Jorge" (he loves to be called "Commander in Chief"), to the "Christian" Right. I fear they are about to do it again (in the guise of Neocon Gov./Rev. Huckabee). Does anyone remember which demographic blindly supported (“he's better than Obama”) our last phony “conservative” candidate, John McCain?

During the last election, my primary responsibility on the campaign was “grassroots”. Make phone calls to donors/supporters and canvass neighborhoods, in order to “get out the vote” (blew that one, didn't I?). I made between fifty and two hundred phone calls per day (five days per week) for about ten months. In the Afternoon, I would hit the bricks and start door to door canvasing. These folks were (for the most part) the Republican Party faithful. In talking to all of those Republicans, one thing was clear. There was something wrong with the Grand Old Party, but they didn't know what. The number one question asked of me was: “How did we get John McCain as our nominee?” I was encouraged, for as the saying goes: "The first step in recovery is admitting you have a problem". Then there was the sweet old “good Christian” lady (a volunteer) at campaign headquarters, with whom I was having a discussion about John McCain. I pointed out that McCain has never been a conservative, but rather a big government, big spending Neocon, who makes a mockery of all things conservative. She looked me right in my one eye and said: “I'd vote for Adolf Hitler if he was Pro-life!” I was stunned and almost speechless. How do you answer that? She didn't give a damned about anything but “Right to Life” and “Family Values.” I responded that there around 73 million dead (all WWII casualties combined) that might disagree with her. I inquired as if she had a problem with bombing Muslim babies. Her asinine response? “The President is only trying to keep us safe from the terrorists and in “war” people get hurt, besides, I can't believe that the President would lie to us.” Don't confuse me with the facts, eh? Be proud folks, be very proud! Disgusting! One step forward, two steps back. Now, who hates?
